Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world's largest container carrier, has placed a fresh newbuilding order for 20 LNG-dual-fuel ultra-large container vessels at two Chinese shipyards, Hengli Heavy Industries and Zhoushan Changhong International. The package is valued at approximately USD 4.4 billion. Under the deal, Hengli Heavy Industries will build 10 additional 22,000 TEU dual-fuel containerships, bringing its total order from MSC to 22 vessels including an earlier batch of 12 units, with deliveries scheduled for 2029.
