The Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of the Grande Pacifico, its largest Pure Car & Truck Carrier (PCTC) and the first of five sister vessels built by China Merchants Heavy Industries Jiangsu. With a capacity of 9,800 CEU, the Grande Pacifico is the biggest PCTC in the Grimaldi fleet, designed to enhance cargo capacity
while maintaining high energy efficiency and environmental standards. Equipped with advanced technologies such as mega lithium batteries, solar panels, and shore power capability, the vessel can reduce fuel consumption by 50% compared to previous-generation car carriers. It is also designed for future conversion to ammonia fuel, supporting the Group’s commitment to zero-carbon maritime transport. The Grande Pacifico’s name reflects Grimaldi’s expanding presence in the Pacific region. Its maiden voyage will be on the Asia–Europe service, sailing from Taicang, China, to Antwerp, Belgium, and Southampton, United Kingdom. This addition strengthens the Group’s intercontinental vehicle transport network and underscores ongoing investments in innovation, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
