Smit Lamnalco has commissioned four 60-metre diesel-electric offshore support tugs from UZMAR Shipyard, equipped with propulsion systems from Berg Propulsion. Based on Robert Allan Ltd’s RAmpage 6000-DE design, these vessels will deliver over 130 tonnes of bollard pull, ranking among the most powerful tugs built
in Türkiye. Each tug features twin 4,000 kW electric motors, Berg azimuth thrusters, controllable-pitch bow thrusters, and the MPC800 control system, addressing the demand for compact, high-power, and lower-emission propulsion in port and offshore operations. Mustafa Muslum, Managing Director of Berg Propulsion Eurasia, highlighted the all-electric setup’s ability to provide full torque at any speed. Uzmar CEO Ahmet Noyan ALTUG emphasized the combination of high bollard pull with efficiency and operational flexibility. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2027 and will operate in French Guiana.
