Navios Maritime Partners L.P. CEO Angeliki Frangou announced a $300 million investment in Japanese shipbuilding, including six new vessels ordered from Japanese yards. The investment strengthens Navios' partnerships with major Japanese maritime companies such as NYK Line, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
("K" Line). The company secured $125 million in Japanese financing and charters with Idemitsu Group and others. Navios has a $3.8 billion revenue backlog covering 71% of its 2026 available days, including a 12-year bareboat charter for two Capesize vessels targeting iron ore demand from Guinea and Brazil. Navios maintains a fleet average age of 9.6 years, younger than the industry average, and recently sold two older VLCCs for $136.5 million to fund newer ships. The company is also investing in decarbonization and digital intelligence through partnerships with MERC and MIT.
