Athens-based Erasmus Shipinvest Group has placed an order for up to eight kamsarmax bulk carriers at Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry in China, marking a strategic shift from its traditional Japanese shipyard partners. The deal, led by John Su, includes four firm 82,000 dwt vessels with options for four more, at a price of approximately $37 million per ship. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028, with the total firm order valued at around $148 million. This move reflects Erasmus's ongoing efforts to diversify its fleet and expand beyond dry bulk shipping.
