Ontario is re-entering the large-scale shipbuilding industry through newly signed agreements involving Hanwha Ocean, Ontario Shipyards, and Mohawk College. The collaboration focuses on shipbuilding, sustainment, and workforce development, particularly in Hamilton. The agreements include technology and knowledge transfer, local in-service support for a new class of submarines, the creation of a shipbuilding learning hub in Hamilton, and expanded opportunities at Port Weller, St. Catharines, and Hamilton.
