India's JSW Group has placed a repeat order for four 8,000 dwt general cargo ships at China's Wuhu shipyard, continuing its fleet renewal programme focused on coastal logistics within India. This marks the fourth round of cooperation between JSW and Wuhu shipyard, following the successful delivery of 10 vessels in previous projects. The new ships are designed specifically for India's domestic coastal waters, featuring double-bottom structures, twin engines, and hydraulic folding hatch covers. The vessels will be classed by the Indian Register of Shipping and are intended to enhance JSW's bulk cargo capabilities, aiming to boost schedule reliability and logistics resilience as coastal shipping becomes increasingly significant in India's supply chains.
