MPC Container Ships (MPCC) has announced the signing of shipbuilding contracts with Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering in China for six new 3,700 TEU container vessels. The first of the vessels is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2028. All six ships will operate under a 10-year time charter, with extension options, for a top 5 global liner company. Each vessel will feature the latest fuel-efficient designs and be prepared for alternative fuels and advanced emissions-reduction technologies. The total investment for the project is USD 292 million, with expected initial charter revenue of USD 479 million. This order brings MPCC's total newbuildings on order to 17 and increases its contracted backlog to over USD 2 billion. CEO Constantin S. Baack stated that 2025 has been transformational for the company and that the new order demonstrates MPCC's commitment to sustainable growth and long-term earnings.
