German shipping company Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler und Reederei has placed an order worth $62.4 million for four methanol-ready multipurpose vessels at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata, India. The deal includes options for two additional units, with scheduled deliveries between June 2028 and March 2029. The 120-meter ships, each capable of carrying 7,500 tonnes of various cargoes including oversized renewable energy components, will feature hybrid propulsion and deck container capability. This order expands Carsten Rehder’s partnership with GRSE, bringing its orderbook at the yard to at least twelve vessels. The agreement follows a memorandum of intent signed at the Nor-Shipping event in Oslo earlier this year.
