Caravel and Celsius launch LNG bunkering vessel initiative On 1 September 2025, Caravel Group from Hong Kong and Denmark's Celsius Tankers announced a joint venture to co-own and operate high-specification LNG bunkering vessels. The alliance capitalizes on Celsius's LNG chartering expertise and Caravel's strategic capital and operational support. The venture has committed to constructing two 20,000 cubic meter LNG bunker vessels at China Merchants Industry Holdings and China Merchants Heavy Industry Jiangsu , with deliveries expected in late 2027. These vessels will feature advanced technologies such as a high-efficiency sub-cooler system, dual-fuel propulsion, and a retractable bow azimuth thruster, complying with Singapore MPA and FuelEU Maritime guidelines. The vessels are anticipated to support LNG bunkering, small-scale LNG trading, and bio-LNG blending, coinciding with an industry trend towards increased LNG dual-fuel vessels and greater LNG bunkering demand.
