MPC Container Ships, listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, has announced a significant investment by ordering four 4,500 TEU container vessels from China's Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering. The total cost of the order is $228 million, complemented by secured three-year charters expected to generate approximately $140 million in revenue upon delivery, set for 2027. Alongside this acquisition, MPC Container Ships is restructuring its fleet by selling three older vessels, each with a capacity of 1,300 TEU, for a total of $31.5 million. This move is in line with the company's broader fleet renewal strategy aimed at optimizing its operations and expanding its financial platform. Furthermore, the company has secured over $100 million in new debt facilities to support these initiatives. CEO Constantin Baack expressed that these strategic decisions reinforce the company's ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet and bolster financial efficiency. These measures reflect MPC Container Ships' commitment to renewing its assets while capitalizing on growth opportunities within the maritime sector.
