National Navigation Co . has announced a significant development in Egypt's maritime sector through a strategic contract with Hantong Shipyard , one of the world's largest shipbuilding companies. This project, supported by the Ministry of Transport, aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's vision to make Egypt a formidable player in global trade and logistics.
The contract involves the construction of two KAMSARMAX vessels, each with a capacity of 82,000 tons. The vessels, which are expected to be delivered in September and November 2028, will feature advanced technologies including a modern hull design for reduced fuel consumption, MAN B&W engines, and state-of-the-art navigation systems, ensuring they meet future international environmental regulations.
This initiative allows National Navigation Co . to renew around 54% of its fleet, with an ambitious goal of expanding to 18 vessels by 2030. The move is part of Egypt’s broader efforts to enhance its commercial fleet, reinforcing its maritime leadership in the Middle East. The contract signing at the Ministry of Transport's headquarters witnessed participation from key company and ministry officials.
