Megamas Resources has announced their collaboration with Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven GmbH for the development of a cable laying vessel, expected to be delivered in 2027. The Singapore-based marine services provider has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the German shipyard, kicking off advanced discussions concerning the project. The agreement also includes the possibility of constructing a second unit. In this venture, Megamas Resources aims to tackle the worldwide scarcity of specialized offshore vessels, supporting both renewable energy and subsea telecommunications sectors. The design of the vessel will be created in conjunction with Ulstein Design and Solutions, ensuring compliance with DNV’s Clean (Design) and Recyclable class notations. The first vessel is targeted for delivery by the end of 2027. The project will be supported by Crewstone International Private Equity & Investments, highlighting Megamas Resources' commitment to enhancing its capabilities in the submarine cable industry. Known for laying and maintaining subsea fiber-optic and power cables, the company continues to address the growing demand in the offshore wind farm sector. Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven GmbH, with its expertise in complex maritime projects, brings valuable shipbuilding experience to the table. Certified to DNV GL ISO 18001 standards, the German shipyard has a history of handling intricate tasks such as the conversion of offshore support vessels and the docking of passenger ships.
