New owners have been found for two renowned shipyards in northern Germany that were previously owned by investor Lars Windhorst. These shipyards, which were part of Windhorst's Tennor Group, have been bought out of bankruptcy by established shipbuilding firms, as confirmed by the bankruptcy administrators.
The Nobiskrug shipyard, located in Rendsburg, and the Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) in Flensburg, both experienced financial difficulties, leading to insolvency proceedings in December. According to the provisional insolvency administrators, Hendrik Gittermann and Christoph Morgen, the Nobiskrug shipyard will be taken over by **Lürssen**, a Bremen-based luxury yacht builder. **Lürssen** already operates a shipyard in the nearby town of Schacht-Audorf, which shares the same canal with Nobiskrug.
Meanwhile, the FSG shipyard will be acquired by the Bremerhaven-based **Heinrich Röner Group**, known for its expertise in shipbuilding and heavy steel construction. The group had already purchased the steel construction division of the Rendsburg Nobiskrug shipyard in November 2021, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the region's shipbuilding industry.
The Australian shipping company **SeaRoad** is expected to partner with FSG to ensure the completion of a ferry previously ordered from the shipyard. This cooperation aims to leverage SeaRoad's expertise for the project's successful delivery.
Nobiskrug, with a history dating back to 1905, has built over 750 ships, primarily specializing in luxury yachts exceeding 60 meters in length. One of its most notable creations is the sailing yacht A, a colossal vessel measuring nearly 143 meters long.
FSG boasts a rich history spanning over 150 years, with a portfolio that includes passenger steamers, schooners, fleet service boats, and research vessels. The transition of ownership offers new opportunities for the resumption of operations, and according to Morgen, employees are expected to return to work at the shipyards soon.
