Peter Dohle Schiffahrts, a leading German shipowner, has announced a significant investment in LNG dual-fuel container ships worth over $600 million. This move marks the company's continued expansion in the container ship market, following a long hiatus in newbuilding orders. In a notable deal, Peter Dohle has contracted Guangzhou Shipyard International to construct up to five neo-panamax vessels, each with a capacity of 8,400 twenty-foot equivalent units (teu). This order includes three firm ships and options for two additional ships, underscoring the company's commitment to modernizing its fleet with eco-friendly technology. The shipowner had recently broken its decade-long dry spell in new orders by securing four 14,000-teu container ships from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. This latest order further strengthens Peter Dohle's presence in the shipping industry, reflecting a strategic focus on LNG technology to support sustainable maritime operations.
