Larsen & Toubro (L&T) marked a notable achievement on Monday with the launch of the Indian Navy's second multi-purpose vessel, INS Utkarsh, at its Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai. This launch, officiated by Sushmita Misra Singh—wife of Union Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh—highlights the nation's expanding maritime capabilities. The quick completion of INS Utkarsh following the debut of the first vessel, INS Samarthak, within just three months showcases L&T's dedication to meeting rapid production timelines. Both vessels are equipped for a variety of advanced naval operations, including surveillance, testing next-generation technologies, humanitarian missions, and combating pollution. L&T continues to support the Indian Navy's growth with innovative indigenous designs from its Warship Design Centre in Chennai, aligned with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The Kattupalli Shipyard, a modern facility, plays a crucial role in collaborating with the private sector on numerous naval projects, including the ongoing repair of INS Tir.
