Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has unveiled its latest vessel, SG Aquamarine, a 180,000 dwt LNG/dual-fuel Capesize bulk carrier. The naming ceremony took place on December 3, 2024, in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading (CSTC). The vessel has been built for Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), a prominent Japanese shipping company.

SG Aquamarine features an overall length of 292 meters, a beam of 45 meters, and a draft of 18.3 meters. Engineered for energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact, the ship incorporates advanced features such as energy-saving ducts designed to enhance its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and minimize pollutant emissions.A highlight of its design is the modular Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS), which streamlined the installation process and boosted pre-outfitting efficiency during construction. The vessel is powered by a MAN B&W 6G70ME-C10.5 main engine, developed by MAN Energy Solutions, a leading German manufacturer.This delivery underscores SWS's commitment to producing environmentally friendly and technologically advanced ships, reflecting the evolving demands of global maritime operations.
