Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has secured a new contract to construct two environmentally advanced cruise ships for Viking, with delivery slated for 2030. The vessels, each weighing 54,300 gross tons, will accommodate 998 passengers in 499 cabins and will incorporate innovative features aimed at meeting the highest standards in safety, navigation, and sustainability.
Building on the success of previous collaborations between Viking and Fincantieri, these new ships will reflect the technological advancements of their predecessors. However, they will also introduce cutting-edge solutions designed to facilitate the use of eco-friendly fuels and enable zero-emission power generation, positioning the vessels as significant contributors to the decarbonization of the cruise industry.
The contract also includes an option for Viking to commission an additional four ships, with potential delivery dates in 2031 and 2032.
