Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has recently taken delivery of the Turquoise Ace, a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Constructed by Imabari’s Tadotsu Shipyard, the vessel was delivered on July 12, 2024. The Turquoise Ace boasts a capacity of 7,000 CEU (Car Equivalent Units), with dimensions measuring 199.9 meters in length, 38 meters in width, and 22.8 meters in depth.

Equipped with a 6S60ME-C10.5-GI main engine from German manufacturer MAN Energy Solutions (MAN ES), the ship utilizes boil-off gas (BOG) generated from its LNG fuel tank. This innovative approach allows the vessel to utilize BOG in its generators and boilers, contributing to its environmentally friendly operation. Classified by classification society ClassNK and registered under the Panama flag, the Turquoise Ace is part of MOL’s new ‘BLUE’ series of LNG-fueled car carriers, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainability. This initiative underscores MOL’s broader corporate mission to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact across its fleet.
