Dry bulk shipping company Globus Maritime has taken delivery of the GLBS Olympia, an Ultramax dry bulk carrier built at Nihon Shipyard in Japan. The vessel has a carrying capacity of approximately 64,000 DWT. The handover marks the fourth Ultramax newbuilding delivered to Globus from the Japanese shipbuilder, expanding the company's fleet to 10 dry bulk carriers. Across the enlarged fleet, Globus said total carrying capacity now reaches approximately 744,622 DWT, with a weighted average age of about eight years as of 14 Sep 2026. According to TrustedDocks orderbook data, the GLBS Olympia was ordered from Nihon Shipyard in August 2023, with delivery scheduled from September 2026. Athanasios Feidakis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Globus, said the company remains committed to disciplined growth and the selective expansion of its fleet, while maintaining a prudent approach to capital allocation. He added that the addition of the newly built vessel strengthens operational efficiency while serving the company's objective of delivering long-term value to shareholders. Globus Maritime, based in Greece, operates internationally through its subsidiaries and transports dry bulk cargoes including iron ore, coal, grain, steel products, cement, and alumina. The delivery of the GLBS Olympia follows earlier additions to the fleet under the company's newbuilding programme with Nihon Shipyard, part of its broader strategy to modernise and grow its dry bulk carrier fleet.
