Ernst Russ AG has taken delivery of its first tanker, the MT Frankie Russ, marking a new step in the German shipping company's diversification strategy. The vessel has left the shipyard and is now on her maiden voyage to Rotterdam. The Frankie Russ is an 18,500 DWT IMO Type II chemical/product tanker built to Ice Class 1B specification, allowing it to operate on more demanding routes in icier waters. The ship also features a methanol-ready design, positioning it for potential use of alternative fuels as the industry moves toward lower-emission propulsion. Ernst Russ said the vessel has been fixed on a long-term charter from the outset of its operational life.
