
Chinese shipbuilder Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding signed a contract on 10 Sep 2026 with Wealth Holdings Shipping Pte Ltd for the construction of 25,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels. The order covers two firm vessels plus options for two additional batches of two ships each, structured as a 2+2+2 deal. The 25,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel measures 159.9 meters in length and is fitted with three 150-ton cranes. Designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute, the vessel is built to mainstream international construction standards and maritime regulations, offering flexibility to carry containers, bulk goods and heavy-lift cargo. Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding is a wholly state-owned enterprise based in Wuxue City, Hubei Province. Within a year the company built an intelligent new-energy shipyard spanning 1.3 million square meters with annual steel processing capacity of 200,000 tons, featuring three intelligent steel processing lines, 24 sub-assembly welding robots, 10 standardized shipbuilding berths and a 500-ton gantry crane. Since May 2026, the company's total order value from domestic and international shipowners has exceeded RMB 3 billion, equivalent to roughly USD 4.47 million at current exchange rates, as it expands its presence in the global shipbuilding market.
