Construction is underway at Baku Shipyard on the first of three new 42-metre DP2 crew boats designed by Incat Crowther for an offshore energy services operator in Azerbaijan. The bespoke vessels are being built to serve pre-existing offshore energy infrastructure in the Caspian Sea. Each vessel will feature a steel hull and superstructure and will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 22 knots. The crew boats are designed to carry up to 50 service personnel and include a large aft deck capable of transporting up to 20 tonnes of deck cargo. A Walk2Work gangway will be fitted to each vessel to improve operational efficiency and safety during personnel transfers to offshore installations. The three-vessel order forms part of a next-generation fleet intended to support offshore energy operations in the Caspian Sea. Incat Crowther, a naval architecture and marine engineering firm, shared images of the construction progress at Baku Shipyard, highlighting the vessels' bespoke design tailored to the specific requirements of Caspian Sea offshore infrastructure.
