Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry Co., Ltd. held a naming and delivery ceremony on 18 Aug 2026 for the Champion Tern, the fourth MR-type chemical tanker built for Champion Tankers AS under a series cooperation agreement. The vessel was handed over 69 days ahead of its contractual schedule, marking the early delivery of all four ships in the series. The Champion Tern measures 183.1 metres in overall length, has a beam of 32.2 metres and a
design draught of 11 metres. It is fitted with 20 cargo tanks, enabling it to carry multiple different cargoes simultaneously depending on voyage requirements, a feature that adds to the technical complexity typical of MR-type product-chemical tankers. On environmental performance, the vessel is equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction system to meet IMO Tier III NOx emission standards. Energy-saving hull optimisation allows the ship to comply with Phase III Energy Efficiency Design Index requirements, supporting lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. According to TrustedDocks orderbook data, the deal covering the Champion Tern was reported by Tradewinds on 13 Aug 2025, with each vessel valued at about USD 50 million, a deadweight of about 49,200 tonnes, and running on conventional fuel. The delivery of the Champion Tern completes the four-vessel newbuilding programme between the shipyard and Champion Tankers AS, with all units delivered ahead of schedule.
