Smyril Line has taken delivery of its new Ro-Ro freight vessel Skipanes from the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Yantai, China. The vessel will strengthen the company's freight services in the North Atlantic. Jens Meinhard Rasmussen, CEO of Smyril Line, described the delivery as a milestone in the company's history and an important step in the development of its fleet. The Skipanes was built with design input from KnudE Hansen, and the project also involved SSY Global. The addition of Skipanes forms part of Smyril Line's ongoing fleet renewal, aimed at expanding capacity and reinforcing the company's position in freight transport across the North Atlantic. Smyril Line operates ferry and freight services connecting the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Denmark and other North Atlantic destinations.
