HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) and Peru's state-owned shipyard SIMA Perú launched the BAP Chimbote, the second landing support ship (BALOG) for the Peruvian Navy, on 18 Aug 2026, about a week after the launch of sister vessel BAP Talara. Despite being launched second, BAP Chimbote is the first of the two hulls built and carries pennant number 159, while BAP Talara carries pennant number 160.
