Greek shipowner John Dragnis, through GOLDENPORT SHIPMANAGEMENT LTD., has placed an order for two ultramax bulk carriers at Nantong Xiangyu Marine Equipment Co., Ltd. The vessels, each with a deadweight tonnage of 64,000, are powered by conventional fuel systems. Delivery of the newbuildings is scheduled between May and November 2029. This order
marks a continued investment by Goldenport in the ultramax segment, which John Dragnis has identified as a key area for growth. Nantong Xiangyu has previously built vessels for the company, reinforcing a strong relationship between the shipowner and the Chinese shipyard. Ultramax bulk carriers, typically sized around 60,000 to 65,000 DWT, are widely used for transporting a variety of dry bulk cargoes. The addition of these vessels will expand Goldenport's fleet capacity and support its operational strategy in the dry bulk market. The confirmed delivery window and specifications reflect the ongoing demand for versatile bulk carriers amid evolving global shipping needs.
