Fujian Highton Development Co has approved an investment to build two 62,000 DWT multipurpose vessels (MPP) through its wholly owned subsidiary, Haitong International Shipping Co. The contract was signed on 14 Aug 2026 with TAIZHOU KOUAN SHIPBUILDING CO.,LTD for a total investment not exceeding 600 million RMB (excluding tax). The vessels will be conventional fuel-powered and equipped with scrubbers
to comply with emission regulations. Delivery is scheduled within 12 months after steel cutting, with the first deliveries expected from 1 Jan 2030 through 31 Dec 2030. Payments will be made in installments aligned with construction progress. The shipyard, established in 2003, is recognized as a leading private shipbuilder in China and holds multiple management system certifications. This investment aims to expand Fujian Highton's fleet capacity and improve its market competitiveness without constituting a related-party transaction or major asset restructuring. The company noted potential risks related to the long construction period and possible delays. The project aligns with Fujian Highton's strategic plan to enhance its shipping capabilities and global market presence while maintaining financial stability.
