Greek owner Minerva Dry Inc has increased its container ship orderbook with an additional contract at Hengli Heavy Industries (Dalian) Co. Ltd. The newbuildings are conventional-fueled container ships with a capacity of 3,100 TEU each. Deliveries are scheduled between 1 July and 31 December 2028. This latest order pushes Minerva Dry’s investment in container ships beyond the $1
billion mark, reflecting the company's significant expansion in the boxship sector. Andreas Martinos, principal of Minerva Marine, now has at least 15 container ships under construction in China, underscoring the firm's strong commitment to fleet growth through newbuildings. Hengli Heavy Industries, based in Dalian, China, continues to be a key shipyard for Minerva Dry, supporting its strategy to modernize and expand its container fleet. The vessels will be powered by conventional fuels, aligning with current market preferences. Minerva Dry’s growing orderbook highlights the ongoing demand for mid-sized container ships and the strategic importance of Chinese shipyards in global shipbuilding. The new vessels are expected to enhance the company’s operational capacity by late 2028.
