SDHI to Build Four Advanced Tugs for Svitzer

TRAnsverse 3200 design, co-developed by naval architects Robert Allan Ltd. and Svitzer, features a hydrodynamic hull and omni-directional propulsion, enabling safe escort and harbour towage in severe weather and restricted channels. The tugs provide an 80-tonne bollard pull and are up to 15% more fuel efficient than conventional tugs, supporting maritime decarbonisation goals. They will be biofuel ready, meet IMO Tier III emissions standards, and carry FiFi1 firefighting classification. SDHI's CEO, Rear Admiral Vipin Kumar Saxena (retd.), highlighted the significance of constructing sophisticated towage vessels and noted this as the company's fourth consecutive export contract. Svitzer's CEO Kasper Friis Nilaus emphasized the operational, safety, and sustainability benefits of the TRAnsverse design and the partnership's alignment with India's Maritime India Vision 2030 and Make in India initiatives. Svitzer operates a fleet of over 500 vessels worldwide and aims to renew its fleet with high-efficiency vessels globally.
