Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading (CSTC), has secured an order from China Merchants Nanjing Tanker for four 50,000-dwt MR chemical/product tankers. The vessels will be built based on GSI’s latest MR tanker design, which emphasizes enhanced energy efficiency, strong port adaptability, and readiness for methanol dual-fuel conversion. This order reinforces the longstanding partnership between GSI and Nanjing Tanker, with GSI having delivered 12 MR tankers to the operator over the past 16 years. The new tankers are part of Nanjing Tanker’s fleet renewal efforts aimed at improving operational efficiency and environmental performance. The inclusion of methanol dual-fuel capability aligns with industry trends toward greener shipping solutions. GSI’s design improvements reflect ongoing efforts to meet evolving environmental regulations and market demands.
