Trawind Shipping & Logistics has taken delivery of the 6,300-dwt TRAWIND SHANGHAI, marking its entry into the international multipurpose vessel (MPP) market. The vessel, built by Lushun Binhai Shipbuilding & Repair in Dalian, is equipped with two 60-tonne cranes and a box-shaped cargo hold capable of handling oversized cargoes up to 13.5 metres wide. This delivery is the first of two similar vessels ordered by Trawind, with the second 6,300-dwt MPP expected in October 2026. The company’s fleet and orderbook total 25 vessels, including 10 ships dedicated to China’s domestic trades and 15 for international operations. Among the seven newbuildings for international trade are six 14,000-dwt general cargo ships scheduled for delivery through 2027. Once these new vessels enter service, Trawind’s internationally trading fleet will grow from eight to 15 ships. This expansion signals the company’s strategic shift from its domestic container shipping base toward a more substantial presence in international breakbulk, project cargo, and multipurpose shipping sectors. Trawind is poised to become a more visible Chinese operator in the global MPP market.
