Several shipowners have recently expanded their feeder vessel fleets by placing new orders or converting options into firm contracts, according to Dynaliners. This trend underscores ongoing investment in the sub-2,000 TEU container ship segment despite an already growing global orderbook. Greek company Goldenport has ordered three 1,800 TEU container ships from Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard, with deliveries planned
for 2027 and 2028. Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping converted options for four 1,900 TEU vessels at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding into firm orders, with deliveries expected to start in mid-2029. Hong Kong-based EGPN, previously active in dry bulk and clean tankers, has entered the container market by ordering two 1,900 TEU ships from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard, scheduled for delivery in 2029. Additionally, Shanghai Minsheng Shipping converted options for two 1,100 TEU vessels at New Dayang Shipbuilding into firm orders. These join an earlier order for two similar ships placed in 2025, with deliveries for all four vessels set between 2027 and 2029. These developments reflect a sustained focus on feeder vessels amid evolving market demands.
