Saab has signed a contract with the Polish State Treasury Armaments Agency for the production and delivery of three A26-type submarines. The order, valued at approximately SEK 47 billion, includes a weapon package as well as training and support services. Deliveries are planned to be
continuous, with final units scheduled for delivery in 2038. The A26 submarines are designed specifically for the Baltic Sea's operational conditions, emphasizing stealth and intelligence capabilities. Saab will also establish maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities in Poland in collaboration with local industry to support the Polish Navy's operations and enhance strategic autonomy. As an interim solution, Poland will operate the Swedish submarine HMS Södermanland under a separate agreement with Sweden. This contract strengthens the defense partnership between Sweden and Poland and aims to enhance security in the Baltic Sea region.
