MSC MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING COMPANY S.R.L. has signed firm contracts for 10 ultra-large container vessels with a capacity of 20,000 TEU each, powered by dual-fuel LNG engines, at Hengli Heavy Industries (Dalian) Co. Ltd. The order includes options for an additional 10 ships. Deliveries are scheduled between January 2029 and December 2030. This expansion is part of MSC's ongoing newbuilding program aimed at enhancing its fleet with environmentally friendlier vessels. Hengli Heavy Industries is the confirmed shipyard for these container ships. The move reflects MSC's commitment to increasing capacity while adopting cleaner fuel technology in the container shipping sector.
