COSCO SHIPPING Energy has signed contracts for four 175,000 m³ LNG carriers at Jiangnan Shipyard in a deal valued at approximately $948 million. The project is a collaboration between COSCO Shipping Energy, Shell, and Jiangnan Shipyard. Scheduled for delivery between
2029 and 2030, the vessels will feature Jiangnan’s new-generation twin-rudder hull design and be powered by WinGD X-DF 2.2 dual-fuel engines equipped with iCER and VCR technologies. The ships will also include a reliquefaction system, optimized shaft generators, and low-methane-slip generators to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This contract brings Jiangnan Shipyard’s LNG carrier orders to 10 in 2026, reflecting the growing trend of LNG carrier construction shifting to Chinese shipyards amid strong global demand for modern LNG tonnage.
