Zhoushan in Zhejiang province reported a 93.7% year-on-year increase in ship exports, reaching 20.38 billion yuan ($3 billion) in the first five months of 2026. This surge is attributed to growing demand for advanced and environmentally friendly vessels. On 22 June,
construction began on a 19,000-teu LNG dual-fuel ultra-large container ship at Changhong International's shipyard in Daishan county, marking the start of its main build phase. The vessel is expected to be delivered by the end of 2026. Changhong International currently holds orders for over 20 new ships, plans to deliver six this year, and has production scheduled through the second half of 2029. To facilitate industry growth, Zhoushan Customs has implemented streamlined procedures for ship registration, modifications, relocation approvals, and export formalities.
