SFL Corporation Ltd has contracted YANTAI CIMC RAFFLES OFFSHORE LIMITED to build a single 7,000-CEU dual-fuel LNG Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) for delivery in 2029. The US-listed owner, backed by John Fredriksen, joins the recent surge in PCTC newbuilding orders amid rising Chinese vehicle exports and improved market conditions. This new vessel complements SFL's existing fleet of seven car carriers and follows four 7,000-CEU vessels delivered from Guangzhou Shipyard International in 2023 and 2024. Yantai CIMC Raffles recently secured a similar order from Zodiac Maritime for two vessels. SFL is also active in container, tanker, bulk carrier, and offshore energy segments, with five 16,800-TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships under construction at New Times Shipbuilding. The PCTC market has seen renewed interest after a slowdown in new orders last year.
