On 23 Jun 2026, JJ Shipping signed a contract with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the construction of four 1,900 TEU container ships in Shanghai. This agreement follows a previous contract signed in March 2026 for a similar batch of vessels, marking continued cooperation between
the two companies. The new ships are optimized for Southeast Asian short-sea shipping routes and are upgraded versions of the proven 1,900 TEU design developed by New Yangzi Shipbuilding. They offer high cargo capacity utilization, excellent manoeuvrability, and operational efficiency. Built with green and smart shipping concepts, the vessels will feature shore power systems to enable zero fuel consumption while berthing. Additionally, a digital operation platform will allow real-time monitoring of sailing speed, fuel consumption, and carbon emissions, supporting eco-friendly and intelligent maritime transportation.
