Indonesia's national agency for research and innovation, Badan Riset & Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), has commissioned PIRIOU VIETNAM to build two research vessels as part of the KRisNa project. The order, placed on 11 Jun 2026, includes a multimission offshore hydro-oceanographic vessel and a 30-meter coastal research vessel with a 2.2-meter draught and diesel-electric propulsion. The coastal vessel, classified as a 290 GT service vessel, is designed to enhance Indonesia's oceanographic research capabilities. Delivery is scheduled between 1 Jan 2027 and 31 Dec 2028. This contract supports Indonesia's efforts to strengthen marine research infrastructure with modern, specialized vessels.
