Indonesia's national agency for research and innovation, Badan Riset & Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), has commissioned PIRIOU VIETNAM to build two research vessels as part of the KRisNa project. The order, placed on 11 Jun 2026, includes a multimission offshore hydro-oceanographic vessel and a coastal research vessel. Both vessels will measure 74.8 meters in length, 14.05 meters in width, and have a draught of 4.5 meters. They will be powered by diesel-electric fuel systems. Delivery is scheduled between 1 Jan 2027 and 31 Dec 2028. This project aims to enhance Indonesia's oceanographic research capabilities. PIRIOU VIETNAM, known for its expertise in service vessels, will handle the design and construction at its shipyard.
