Largest Bulker-to-Containership Conversion Completed in China

seven dry bulk cargo holds into 13 container holds, installation of a new container lashing system, and alterations to the deck structure, cargo layout, ship systems, and accommodation block. China Classification Society confirmed this as the world’s first major conversion of an 80,000 DWT bulk carrier into a containership of this size. The project addresses strong demand in the feeder and mid-sized containership markets, where available tonnage is limited and newbuilding slots are constrained.
