Cochin Shipyard Builds Battery-Electric Tugs for JNPA

This project supports JNPA's Green Port ambitions and is expected to drive investments of around ₹1,000 crore in green tug construction during the initial phase. Cochin Shipyard is among the first Indian shipbuilders to deliver operational low-emission vessels and is expanding its expertise across alternative fuel segments, including hydrogen-powered vessels. The initiative reflects India's growing focus on maritime decarbonization and the potential for wider adoption of electric and alternative-fuel vessels in the coastal and port ecosystem.
