VARD Wins Largest Order for Deep-Sea Research Vessel

for delivery in the first quarter of 2030. Based on the VARD 9 42 design, the vessel will support seafloor mapping, coring, sampling, submarine operations, and ROV activities at depths up to 11,000 meters. It will feature one of the largest battery installations on a ship, enabling up to 12 hours of silent scientific operations with hybrid power propulsion. The vessel will also comply with the latest IACS cybersecurity standards and accommodate up to 130 crew and researchers. Hull construction will take place at Vard Shipyards Romania, with outfitting and delivery in Norway.
