On 1 Jun 2026, Greece’s Dynacom signed a contract with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading for 12 very large crude carriers (VLCCs), valued at nearly RMB 10 billion. The vessels will feature a new-generation 307,000 dwt design by SDARI, incorporating optimized hull lines, energy-saving
devices, WinGD main engines, scrubbers, and high-pressure SCR systems. The signing took place during Posidonia in Athens, shortly before Dynacom’s George Procopiou joined the Capital Link Maritime Leaders Summit panel on global energy and shipping. Procopiou emphasized that ordering the best available design is crucial for reducing fuel consumption, costs, and emissions. This deal highlights China's growing role as a key supplier of advanced energy transportation assets to leading global shipowners. Fleet renewal for tanker owners like Dynacom focuses on securing compliant and efficient tonnage for the next two decades.
