Hanwha Ocean has laid the keel for Singapore’s first Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), a 204,000 cbm vessel being built for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL). The FSRU will be the centerpiece of Singapore’s second LNG import terminal at Jurong Port. MOL will own, manage, and operate the unit under a long-term charter agreement with Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG). The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2027. This project marks a significant development in LNG infrastructure in Asia, introducing new operational and technical challenges distinct from traditional LNG carriers. The FSRU will enable continuous regasification and increased cargo operations, supporting Singapore’s growing energy needs.
