CMA CGM NOTRE DAME, the world’s largest French-flagged containership with a capacity of 24,212 TEU, made its maiden call at Yantian Port, China, on 26 May 2026. The LNG-powered vessel departed from Shanghai and is the first of ten similar ships flying the
French flag to enter commercial service on CMA CGM’s French Asia Line, connecting Asia with Northern Europe. Equipped with an 18,600 cbm LNG fuel tank, aerodynamic energy-saving features, a fully digital bridge, and AI-supported route optimisation, the ship supports up to 1,600 reefer plugs for high-value and temperature-sensitive cargoes. The call at Yantian underscores South China’s strategic role in Asia-Europe trade and the growing importance of low-carbon shipping corridors. CMA CGM NOTRE DAME is scheduled for official naming in Le Havre on 2 July 2026.
