Mercuria Energy Group Ltd has placed orders for four new tankers valued at approximately $300 million. The order includes two suezmax and two newcastlemax vessels, contributing to Mercuria's 2026 newbuilding expenditure of around $1.4 billion for a total of 18 vessels. The tankers, each with a deadweight tonnage of 157,000 DWT, will be built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd - CSSC. These vessels will use conventional fuel and are scheduled for delivery between 01 Jan 2029 and 30 Jun 2029. This expansion reflects Mercuria's ongoing investment in its shipping fleet amid a busy year for newbuilding contracts. The new tankers will support Mercuria's operations in the global energy and commodity shipping markets.
