G2 Ocean will add six new open hatch gantry crane vessels to its fleet from 2029 as part of its ongoing fleet renewal programme. The vessels, each with a deadweight of 65,400 tons, will be built by NEW DAYANG SHIPBUILDING CO., LTD in Yangzhou, China. They will feature eight open
hatch cargo holds, two gantry cranes, tween decks for mixed cargo, and be dual-fuel ready for ammonia or methanol. Two of the vessels will be owned by Grieg Maritime Group, and four will be owned by Seaspan and chartered to Gearbulk. This addition enhances G2 Ocean's operational flexibility by bridging the gap between its larger and smaller gantry vessels. The investment complements G2 Ocean’s existing fleet upgrades, including the installation of AirWing™20 jet sails on the 49,924 dwt vessel Star Kirkenes to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. These developments reflect the company’s commitment to sustainable and flexible cargo solutions.
