Greek shipowner Alpha Bulkers Shipmanagement has contracted Hengli Heavy Industries (Dalian) Co. Ltd to build two 181,000-dwt conventional fuel capesize bulk carriers. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between January and December 2028. This marks Alpha Bulkers' return to the capesize segment after 13 years, following previous investments in tanker and container ship projects. The Chinese shipyard recently sold several capesize berths, with Alpha Bulkers securing two slots. The company currently operates a fleet of 33 vessels ranging from ultramaxes to newcastlemaxes. This newbuilding order reflects Alpha Bulkers' renewed focus on the dry bulk market.
